DMGT Freelancers: From Coworking to Community 🌏
Work remotely, but don’t want to work alone?
DMGT Freelancers is a community in Dumaguete for freelancers, business owners, digital nomads, and people interested in the remote-work lifestyle.
It all started with a simple post on Threads.
Moving here without anyone I know, I posted in Thread looking for people in Dumaguete to cowork with, grab coffee, or just socialize. I didn’t really know what would come from it, but a few people responded. We started a group chat, and from there, the meetups slowly followed.
Looking back, it’s been pretty cool seeing how that little idea has grown.
It Started With Coworking 💻
At first, I just wanted to find people who understood what it was like to work remotely.
So we started with coworking sessions—bringing our laptops, finding a place to work, and getting to know each other along the way.
But eventually, the meetups became about more than work.
First official meet-up at Liquid Dumaguete on September 28, 2025
Then We Started Exploring 🌿
Someone would suggest a hike. Someone else would suggest an activity. And before long, we started planning trips outside Dumaguete.
We went on a day trip to Amlan, hiking to a nearby sulfur vent before exploring a waterfall in the area.

Pickleball, Coffee & Random Plans 🏓☕
We’ve also played pickleball, grabbed coffee and food, and had plenty of casual meetups.
Some were planned. Others were pretty spontaneous.
That’s one of my favorite things about the group—there’s no pressure for every meetup to be a big event. Sometimes it’s just a few people getting together and having a good time.
And Then Came Karaoke 🎤
Of course, we had to add karaoke to the list.
It was another chance to put the laptops away, pass the microphone around, and spend time together outside of work.

What’s Next?
I don’t have a grand formula for where DMGT Freelancers is going.
I just want to keep creating opportunities for people to meet, connect, learn from each other, collaborate, and have fun.
I’d love to see more people join, more ideas turn into meetups, and more friendships come out of this little community.
For now, we’re taking it one meetup at a time.
